What's in Card Ink

There's no account and no ads.

Draft: remove any deck that isn't in the submitted build.

Getting started

Open a deck. On Home, tap a subject to open it, then tap a deck. Each set has 12 cards. Sets are untimed, so go at your own pace.

Reveal the answer. Tap the card or swipe up to flip it.

Move between cards. Swipe left for the next card and right for the previous one. On iPad with a keyboard, Space flips the card and the left and right arrow keys move between cards.

Finish a set. After the last card, a recap shows how many cards you reviewed, how many sets you've completed, and how many of the deck's cards you've seen so far. You can optionally say how the set felt. Tap Start the next set to keep going.

How sets work

Every deck serves sets of 12. Card Ink keeps a shuffled order of the whole deck, and each set takes the next 12 cards, so no card repeats until you've seen every card in the deck. After that, a fresh shuffle begins. Decks with 12 cards or fewer show every card each set. My Cards always shows all your cards.

Writing on cards (the pen)

My Cards

On Home, tap My Cards, then Add your first card (or Add a card). Type a front and a back, then tap Save card. Use Save & add another to make several in a row. You can write on your own cards with the pen too.

Backup and restore

Your cards live on your device, so it's a good idea to save a backup now and then, especially before you change phones.

A backup file contains your own notes and handwriting, and backup files aren't encrypted. Keep them somewhere you trust.

To confirm: the steps above come from the beta. Check menu names, the Pencil behavior, and the backup flow against the native build.

FAQ

Do I need an account?

No. Card Ink has no account and no sign-in.

Where are my cards stored? Do you see them?

On your device. If you use iCloud Backup or back up to a computer, iOS may include them in that backup. Backup files you export go wherever you save them. We can't see your cards, notes, or history. See our Privacy Policy at cardinkapp.com/privacy.

Does Card Ink work offline?

Yes. Studying, writing, and making cards all work without an internet connection.

Does Card Ink time me?

No. Card Ink doesn't show a timer or time your sets. Sets are untimed.

How do I move my cards to a new iPhone or iPad?

Save a backup on the old device, move the file (for example through Files or AirDrop), then use Restore backup on the new device.

If I delete the app, will I lose my cards?

Yes. Deleting the app deletes its data from the device. Save a backup first if you want to keep your cards and notes.

I found a mistake on a card.

Thank you. Email us with the deck name and the card's front text. Corrections to built-in decks arrive with app updates, and your notes on those cards are kept.

Is Card Ink an official study guide or practice test?

No. Card Ink is an independent study aid. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any government agency, motor vehicle department, school system, or testing organization.

Are there ads?

No. Card Ink has no ads.
